Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Golden Tulip Doha Hotel have held a group Iftar banquet for seniors at the Centre for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan). The event is part of QRCS’s psychological support programmes for older persons, and a form of partnership with fellow organisations and donors.
It was attended by many QRCS volunteers, representatives of the three partners, some social media influencers and 21 seniors from Ehsan Centre.
“The event was a nice time for both the seniors and volunteers. They talked, broke their fast together and felt the warm and friendly spirit of one family,” QRCS said in a statement. QRCS honoured both Ehsan Centre and Golden Tulip Doha for making the charity event a success.
Ramzi Asili, general manager of Golden Tulip Doha, said: “It is the second year in a row that this event has been co-organised by QRCS and us. We work together all over the year, as we usually host their meetings and events. It is a commitment to social responsibility, and we will keep offering all help as much as possible.
Ahmed A al-Khulaifi, head of the Volunteering Section at QRCS, thanked Ehsan Centre and Golden Tulip Doha for their co-operation in putting a smile on the faces of the seniors. “They are not seen as older persons. They are our source of pride and mercy,” he commented.
Jaber M al-Merri, communication and media manager at Ehsan centre, commended the initiative by QRCS and Golden Tulip Doha, which reflected the good tripartite relations. “It is a thank you message sent to the seniors for their life-long sacrifice and giving. We wish to see them happy all the time. Any similar effort to serve the seniors is highly welcomed,” he added.
