The Civilian Court of Qatar has ordered a private clinic and a physician to pay a patient QR1mn for the damage sustained due to a medical error.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported on Monday that the patient used to have some problems with her nose in addition to constant headache. She approached the doctor at the private clinic for treatment.

After the necessary tests and checkup, the woman was convinced that a surgery was necessary. But the surgery resulted in various adverse complications including vertigo, weakness of hearing in the right ear and facial paralysis on the right side.

Eventually, the patient filed a case but the criminal court acquitted the doctor and the clinic but the civilian court ordered a compensation for her due to a lack of clarity of understanding because the doctor did not know Arabic.
