Nebras Power has gifted numerous boxes of sweets to several schools and toys to children at Hamad General Hospital (HGH), on the occasion of Garangao.
The goodie bags filled with candies and nuts delighted children, who every year enjoy the Qatari tradition with family and friends. Kids associate Ramadan with Garangao, which is a yearly festivity held in the middle of the holy month.
The Garangao festivity “is at the heart of Nebras Power’s efforts to rejoice the national heritage and preserve the authentic Qatari traditions in a unique family atmosphere”, the company has said in a statement. The celebration includes a wide range of traditional activities that engage both children and their parents.
The Garangao festivity embeds a variety of virtues and values such as generosity and solidarity; it educates kids about the importance of these virtues in their heritage. During this celebration, children wear traditional costumes and chant Garangao songs while collecting confectionery from their parents and neighbours in special goodie bags.
“As a responsible corporate citizen, Nebras Power is proud to support various community projects and initiatives that develop human and institutional capacity through its community outreach programme nationwide,” the statement adds.
