Katara Open Chess Tournament kicked off on Tuesday with the participation of 102 players of different nationalities.

General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation Katara, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, said that this year's tournament has an international aspect and will be an opportunity for international classification, praising the fruitful relationship between Katara and Qatar Chess Association.

For his part, the tournament manager and member of Qatar Chess Association Hussein Aziz said that this tournament allows the players to register points for their balance on the list of the World Chess Federation (FIDE).

Aziz pointed out that the tournament attracted many participants, especially from age groups of children under 12, including Qatari players.
