*Award goes to Nawal al-Kurbi, Almazun al-Marri and Amal al-Gherainig, who developed a mobile app named Mobsron
Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, presented Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Akhlaquna Award (Cycle 2) during the annual QF Convocation ceremony in Education City on Tuesday.
The award went to Nawal al-Kurbi, Almazun al-Marri and Amal al-Gherainig, who developed a mobile app named Mobsron.
Mobsron is an innovative mobile application that provides people who are blind and visually impaired with a tool to order food, review ingredients and compare prices. The project initially stemmed from the belief that it is every human’s right to live a dignified, independent life and be provided with equal opportunities to participate in society.
The objective of the Akhlaquna Award is to highlight the timeless and universal values exhibited by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who serves as a role model of great moral character, and guides the values of the award. Her Highness Sheikha Moza first announced the Akhlaquna Award during QF’s 2017 convocation ceremony, with this year marking Cycle 2 of the initiative.
Al-Kurbi, leader of the initiative, expressed delight at winning the award and the unforgettable experience she shared with her friends and teammates.
“I am very proud that Mobsron has won this prestigious award,” she said. “I couldn’t have achieved this without my teammates. We believe that winning this award will help us reach a larger audience and take our project to the next level, with Qatar Foundation's support."
Al-Marri, the initiative's deputy leader, said: “Each human has the right to live an independent life, and it is for this reason that we launched our mobile app. Through this human initiative, we are looking to provide a very effective service to help the blind and visually impaired in Qatar, and hopefully beyond.”
Al-Gherainig, who is the initiative's media specialist, explained: “My participation in the Akhlaquna Award this year has given me confidence to follow my beliefs – without hesitation – and to challenge myself.”
Giving her advice to others, she added: “Work on an idea and implement it, because working hard is the best way to make a positive impact on the community.”

“The ultimate aim of this award is to recognise and celebrate young people who have developed projects that embody exemplary moral character and inspire others to effect positive change in their communities.
