*MoI only authority responsible for issuing visas
*Cultural, sports activities bring people together
The Government Communications Office (GCO) on Sunday emphasised the keenness of Qatar on the coherence in societies and peoples in different countries of the world and its constant endeavor to deepen the bonds of love and the rejection of hatred among peoples.
In a statement , the GCO said that the position of Qatar has always been clear that people should not be involved in the differences that arise between countries, pointing out that the states will continue to derive their strength from the cohesion of their peoples and societies.
In response to the remarks made during the past few days, the GCO said that Qatar's Ministry of Interior (Expatriates Affairs Department) was the only authority authorised to issue the various types visas of entry into the country, subject to the approval of the competent authorities and in accordance with the laws and regulations governing this, as well as the joint agreements with other countries.
The GCO pointed out that any remarks beyond those legal frameworks did not represent the policy in force in the Ministry of Interior.
In the statement, the GCO stressed that Qatar welcomed all the peoples of the world and that the various activities between peoples, whether cultural, sports, tourism, economic and others, were among the means of bringing people together, regardless of the differences between countries.
