The Amiri Guard School celebrated conclusion of the training season 2018-2019, where it graduated six basic courses - security and VIP protection, close protection, self-defence, rapid intervention, intelligence security and training Amiri Guard trainers - at the Hasniyeh camp, under the patronage and presence of the Commander of the Amiri Guard Major General Hazza bin Khalil al-Shahwani.
The graduation ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commander of the Amiri Guard, the Inspector-General, Assistants Commander of the Amiri Guard, as well as a number of departments and groups’ leaders, Oman's military attache, British military attache, and officers from the armed forces.
The close protection course, which was carried out for the first time in co-operation with the British Royal Military Police Close Protection Unit, is one of the important courses that contribute to the acquisition of different combat skills. The nine-week course included a watch tower training between the Amiri Guard and the British Royal Military Police, and aims to exchange experiences, qualify and develop trainees' skills in securing and protecting personalities.
On this occasion, Lt Col Mohammed Rashid al-Hajri, acting head of the Amiri Guard School, said that the school is always keen to upgrade the training in various courses according to the directives of the Amiri Guard command, as it is keen to enhance its training programmes with the best and the latest methods and training staff excellence.
The trainees presented a series of methods through the application of a variety of movements and various combat formations that reflected the combat readiness of the Amiri Guard and other security forces, in addition to a number of supposed scenarios that included some field exercises for rapid intervention, and close protection.
At the end of ceremony, the Amiri Guard commander honoured the graduates and urged them to continue their efforts and perseverance.
