The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs yesterday announced that it will hold a number of programmes and events in different parts of the country during the holy month of Ramadan.
Mohamed bin Hamad al-Kuwari, director, mosques department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, stressed the readiness of the mosques to receive all worshippers during the holy month, announcing that between the beginning of 2018 and mid-April of this year the ministry received 88 new mosques, as well as that there are 67 plots of land allocated for mosques.
Al-Kuwari said that the number of Qatari imams has reached 147 while that of non-Qatari stands at 906.
Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Mohammed al-Thani, director-general, General Department of Awqaf, spoke about the activities of the Public Endowments Department during the holy month, pointing out that it is characterised by diversity.
Jassem bin Mohamed al-Kubaisi, director, Zakat Fund Department at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, said that the Zakat Fund’s plan for Ramadan will include a number of measures. (QNA)
Medical Services of Armed Forces holds seminar on Korean medicine
Under the patronage of HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, Medical Services at Qatar Armed Forces organised yesterday a scientific seminar entitled “Traditional Korean Medicine”, in the presence of the National Service Academy president Staff Major General Saeed bin Hamad al-Nuaimi, and Armed Forces Medical Services Commander Major General (Sea) Nasser Mohamed al-Kaabi.
Leaflets was distributed during the event to present Korean traditional medicine in the treatment of joints and spinal disorders without surgical intervention, as well as a presentation of the most prominent cases that were treated by acupuncture methods and other traditional Korean methods, and physical therapy and massage.
The seminar was attended by a number of senior officers of the Armed Forces, as well as South Korean ambassador to Qatar Kim Chang-mo, in addition to a number of doctors and specialists. (QNA)

HMC welcomes visiting international consultants
