*Amir, President Buhari hold official talks in Abuja

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari held official talks at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

During the session they discussed bilateral relations and the prospects for developing them in all sectors, especially in the economic, investment, energy, agriculture and infrastructure fields.

They also exchanged views and stances of both countries on all regional and international developments.

The session was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Amir and a number of Nigerian ministers and senior officials.

The Amir was accorded an official reception upon his arrival at the presidential villa.

His Highness the Amir and Buhari also held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed aspects of promoting relations and developing areas of co-operation in various fields. They also discussed issues of common concern.

The Amir later attended a luncheon banquet hosted by President Buhari in his honour at Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

The banquet was attended by members of the delegation accompanying the Amir and a number of Nigerian ministers and senior officials.

Earlier upon arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on a state visit to Nigeria, His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation were received by Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja Muhammad Bello, Qatar's ambassador to Nigeria Abdulaziz bin Mubarak al-Mohannadi, and members of the Qatari embassy.

During the reception, the Amir received an honorary key to the capital Abuja from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory as a welcome gift. It was followed by a welcome performance by a folkloric Nigerian group.

The Amir left Abuja on Tuesday evening after concluding the state visit to Nigeria. He was seen off at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by Foreign Minister Onyeama and other dignitaries.

The Amir sent a cable to President Buhari in which he expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the president and the friendly people of Nigeria for the warm welcome, hospitality and honour accorded to him and the accompanying delegation during the visit. The Amir wished the president good health and happiness and the Nigerian people further development and prosperity.
