The MG RX5 reached another milestone when it received the ‘Best Compact Crossover SUV’ award at the Golden Steering Awards – Qatar 2019, organised by ‘Arab Motors Middle East’ and ‘XTORK’.
The awards took place at the Al Enna Camp in Sealine with the participation of 4X4 and SUV vehicles from various brands in Qatar.
The MG RX5 beat the competition in its category and received high ranking from the judging panel. Its design, high performance and steadiness on all terrains put it on top of its segment, Auto Class Cars, the authorised general distributor of MG in Qatar, said in a statement.
The RX5 is one of the latest models to join MG’s range of vehicles, and “possesses all the attributes to push the brand to the front of car buyers’ mind in Qatar”, the statement noted.
Hesham al-Sahn, general manager of Auto Class Cars, said: “MG continues to enhance its position in Qatar, launching more new and exciting vehicles with Auto Class Cars. This award for MG RX5 is an acknowledgement of the brand’s effort to create captivating designs and high-performance vehicles that are fuel-efficient, cost-effective and modern.”
Tamer Abdullah, MG brand manager, expressed pride at receiving the award and said: “The MG RX5 proved its capabilities, surpassing its rivals to become the pinnacle of compact crossover vehicles. It is witnessing high demand in Qatar and is truly ideal for people seeking to drive an elegant car without sacrificing high performance, making it a favourite choice especially for young drivers.”
Tom Lee, general manager of SAIC Motor Middle East, the mother company of MG, added: “We are proud of our MG RX5 model, a vehicle that reflects our ethos and capabilities in delivering efficient vehicles that meet the customers’ demands. At SAIC Motors, we will continue our effort to increase our market share.”
The new MG RX5 will appeal to a range of customers in Qatar, especially younger buyers “looking for value for money in a stylish, technologically-advanced package that allows them to stand out from the crowd”.
Equipped with a 1.5T petrol engine and 7-speed automatic gearbox, the MG RX5 is available as entry level standard or mid-range COM models. The more powerful 2.0T power plant is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and is offered for either COM or top-of-the-range LUX trim levels, with the latter featuring All-Wheel Drive.
Auto Class Cars is a subsidiary of NBK Holding and the authorised distributor of MG and Maxus, both part of SAIC Motor.
The RX5 and other MG models are now available at the Auto Class Cars showroom on Salwa Road. Customers can visit the showroom from Saturday to Thursday, 8am to 9pm, and on Friday from 5pm to 9pm.
