His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani sent yesterday cables of condolences to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on the victims of explosions that targeted churches and hotels in Sri Lanka, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
His Highness the Amir expressed strong condemnation of the horrific crime, stressing Qatar's firm rejection of violence and terrorism regardless of the motives or reasons.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani also sent a similar cable to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed Qatar's shock at this heinous and horrific crime.
The statement stressed Qatar's rejection of targeting places of worship and intimidating people.
The statement expressed Qatar's condolences to the victims' families and to the government and people of Sri Lanka.
Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue has also condemned the terrorist attack and denounced the crimes of hatred and extremism, especially when the perpetrators target places of worship.
