His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Sunday discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in various fields, especially in the economic, investment and development sectors.
During the meeting held at the Presidential Palace in Kigali , the Amir and the president exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern both at the regional and international levels.
His Highness the Amir is on a state visit to Rwanda at the invitation of President Kagame.
The Amir and President Kagame witnessed the signing of an agreement and memorandums of understanding between the two countries' governments in the presidential palace.
They witnessed the signing of an agreement related to air transport and two draft memorandums of understanding for cooperation in the fields of sport and culture, as well as a memorandum of cooperation in the fields of tourism and business activities.
The members of the official delegation accompanying the Amir and a number of Rwandan ministers and senior officials attended the signing ceremony.

His Highness the Amir attended the dinner banquet hosted by Kagame in his honour.
The banquet was also attended by members of the delegation accompanying the Amir and a number of Rwandan ministers.
Earlier upon arrival at the Kigali International Airport, the Amir and the delegation accompanying him were received by President Kagame and a number of Rwandan ministers and senior officials.
His Highness the Amir was accorded an official reception ceremony, followed by a welcome performance by a folkloric Rwandan group. 
The Amir's current tour also includes a visit to Nigeria.
In a special report on the occasion of the Amir's visit, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) said the tour was part of Qatar's efforts to build solid relations and strategic partnerships with countries in the African continent.
The Amir will hold talks with leaders of the two countries and senior officials on bilateral relations and means of enhancing them in various fields. His Highness will also discuss a number of issues of common concern. The visits will witness the signing of a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding.
The visit also shows the great importance Qatar attaches to its relations with various countries of the continent and its keenness to support and develop them in all sectors. The tour also highlights the importance of Africa as a strategic partner and natural extension of the Arab world, a gateway to the world, and a promising arena for building strategic economic, trade and investment partnerships.
Relations between Qatar and Rwanda are promising and both sides are determined to strengthen and develop them to serve the friendly peoples through constant consultation and continuous coordination.
President Kagame and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held official talks in Doha during the Rwandan leader's visit to Qatar in last November. They discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, investment, agricultural and mineral sectors.
On February 15, the Amir met with Kagame at his residence in Munich, on the sidelines of the 55th Munich Security Conference. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and ways to boost and develop them, in addition to the most prominent developments regionally and globally.
Last November, Hassad Food company signed a MoU with the government of Rwanda to examine investment opportunities in the field of agriculture and food.
Qatar Airways had participated last February in the Aviation Africa Summit which was held in Rwanda.
In the early 1990s, Rwanda witnessed one of the bloodiest ethnic clashes in history, but it was able to rise and stand on its own again and build a prosperous, hopeful, and successful state. The country is currently enjoying an unprecedented economic boom.
Rwanda lies in the middle of the African continent, south of the equator. It is a non-coastal inland state and is connected to the outside world through its neighbors, especially through the ports of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Mombasa in Kenya.
Rwanda's government has succeeded in fighting corruption and in reducing extreme poverty. Its economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the African continent, with textiles, clothing, leather, agricultural crops, livestock, timber, metals, tourism and information and communications technology being the prominent sectors.
Rwanda also attracts tourists from around the world for its natural and wild life.
The Government of Rwanda is transforming its economy from being reliant on low-income agriculture into a knowledge-based economy, encouraging foreign investment by easing restrictions and providing incentives.
