Qatari Autism Society has signed an agreement with Oryx GTL to achieve the vision of society, which aims to integrate people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) into the community. This agreement contributes to supporting the ‘You Complete Us’ programme hosted by the society, a training and educational programme for children with autism, aged 3-14 years.
The programme aims to qualify, rehabilitate and train children with ASD so that they can rely on themselves to meet their daily needs, develop their abilities as well as provide support and guidance to their families, a press statement notes.
Oryx GTL is providing the support needed towards the success and sustainability of the ‘You Complete Us’ programme. The programme consists of individual sessions in Arabic and English covering speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, special education (behaviour modification) and family advisory services.
Mohamed Faisal, executive director of Qatari Autism Society, and Mohamed al-Enazi, chief administration officer at Oryx GTL, expressed pleasure at signing the partnership agreement that would contribute to raising awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder within the community.
Oryx GTL provides support to Qatari Autism Society in line with its commitment to corporate social responsibility, the statement adds.
Al-Enazi praised all the employees of Qatar Autism Society for their efforts to overcome the difficulties faced by individuals with autism, as well as their endeavours to integrate such individuals with their peers in the community to overcome this disorder.
Qatari Autism Society hopes to get technical and financial support by signing such agreement with governmental institutions and civil society organisations to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.
