Qatar Charity (QC) has inked an agreement with the Qatar Lawyers Association to enhance co-operation and partnership for community service in Qatar.
The pact was signed by Yousif bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, CEO of QC, and Rashid bin Nasser al-Nuaimi, chairman of the association's board.
Under the deal, the two parties agreed to undertake a series of humanitarian initiatives, which will be agreed upon, to benefit the community in order to achieve the comprehensive vision of development envisaged in Qatar National Vision 2030, QC said in a statement.
The two parties also agreed that the association would provide legal advice in some humanitarian cases with no fees, in addition to any other legal consultations and services agreed upon by both parties and transferred by QC.
Further, the two parties agreed to share relevant experiences and information through meetings, visits and communication.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, al-Kuwari said: “We are pleased with this co-operation and partnership with the Qatar Lawyers Association and look forward to establishing solid foundations for collaboration to serve the community in Qatar and address humanitarian issues worldwide.”
He stressed QC's "continuous efforts to co-operate, collaborate and co-ordinate with various governmental and private bodies, as well as civil society organisations within and outside the country, to achieve its developmental and humanitarian goals", while also praising the association for its community service.
For his part, al-Nuaimi applauded Qatar Charity for its role in the charitable, humanitarian and developmental field. "We have the honour to co-operate with Qatar Charity in every good work to serve the community,” he said, noting that there would be greater co-operation in the future through many humanitarian initiatives.
In a statement following the signing, Jathnan Mohamed al-Hajri, board member of the Qatar Lawyers Association, considered the pact "very important, as it aims to strengthen co-operation between the two parties on the humanitarian side".
According to al-Hajri, both agreed that QC - after a careful study - would nominate a number of humanitarian cases for the benefit of persons who cannot afford the services of a counsel to be defended and provided with free legal aid by the Qatar Lawyers Association.
