Winx won her third-consecutive Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2000 metres, beating Kluger and Hartnell in the 4-million-dollar (2.8 million US dollars) race in front of some 40,000 people at Sydney's sold-out Randwick Racecourse.
The 7-year-old mare, which also holds a world record for winning 25 Group One races, retires on Saturday as one of the greatest-ever race horses.
"It's over, isn't it?" Winx's jockey, Hugh Bowman, said after the race. "It has been very surreal for me all day with the amount of people here, it is just amazing." Until the 1500-metre mark, Winx was in sixth place in the nine-horse field and made the last run within the next 400 metres.
