Education City Golf Club (ECGC) will participate in the first ever Golf and Health week which has been launched by the sport’s governing body, the R&A (The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews).
It is a dedicated campaign to raise awareness of the health benefits of golf for people of all ages and abilities, and will be carried out globally.
The first ever Golf and Health Week will take place from April 15-19 and will aim to encourage golfers, non-golfers and lapsed golfers into taking part in the sport.
A number of health-related themes will be promoted during the week of the campaign, including, fitness, mental health, disability golf, golf for everyone and nutrition.
ECGC’s head professional Anthony Caira has designed a programme for the said week, which will cover all facets of the sport, including a free fitness screening to determine a fit-for-golf plan, mental health session, including yoga, awareness session about disability golf, driving range sessions with pro tips for beginners and a nutrition for golf seminar in collaboration with Sama Medical Care.
A collaborative campaign will run across digital and social media channels using #GolfHealthWeek and include content focused on highlighting the physical and mental health benefits of playing golf and projects being delivered by golf bodies and clubs.
Commenting on ECGC’s activities, Caira said, “This whole campaign is brilliant to make everyone aware of the health and well-being benefits the game of golf brings. Health and well-being is at the forefront of what we are doing here at ECGC, so it is very appropriate for us to get involved in this worldwide campaign. We will lay on a complimentary session each day at the club to encourage as many people as possible to come down to the club to learn about golf, and the health and well-being benefits it brings.”
