The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), in association with the Indian embassy, all ICC associate organisations and Indian schools in Qatar, is set to stage a cultural show celebrating Indian festivals — ‘Bharat Utsav 2019’ — at Sheraton Doha on Friday. The event will be held from 5.30pm as part of the Qatar-India 2019 Year of Culture.

The programme will see Indian schools and ICC associate organisations showcase folk dances and some of the prominent festivals of India, such as Bangiya Parishad Qatar -- Navratri festival; Bhavan's Public School, Doha – Diwali; Birla Public School- Holi; Bunts Qatar - Yakshagana; DPS Modern Indian School - New Year celebrations/Sambalpuri dance; Gujarati Samaj Qatar - kite festival and dandiya; Indian Women's Association - women's empowerment, ladies' festival; Kerala Social and Cultural Association, Doha - Mohiniyattam; Maharashtra Mandal Qatar - Lezim; MES Indian School, Doha - Oppana; North India Association, Qatar - Baisakhi. festive songs and Bhangra, Shantiniketan Indian School - Onam celebrations, Thiruvatira; Telangana Praja Samithi - Batthukama, Dussehra; and Uttarakhand Association of Qatar - Uttarakhand Festival.

The event is supported by Teyseer Motors, Ooredoo, LuLu Group, BDP International, Jersey Group, Al Tawfeeq Travels, Petrotec, Methodic, Gulf Gate Tourism, Radisson Blu, Oriental Trading Company, Qatar Meta Coats, Progressive Trading & Cont, Eastern Exchange, Qatar Design Consortium, Emco Qatar, Almuftah Contracting Co, ATS, Nasser Al Hajri and Care n Cure, the ICC has said in a statement.

Indian ambassador P Kumaran will be the chief guest for the evening, and eminent personalities from Qatar and other diplomatic missions are expected to grace the occasion. A commemorative souvenir will also be brought out to mark the celebration.
