Thundery rain is expected in the country along with sudden strong winds and low visibility, the Qatar Met department has said.

The weather office has also issued a marine warning for thundershowers, windy conditions and high seas on Wednesday.

The department had earlier said unsettled weather conditions were likely to affect the country until the weekend due to the extension of a low-pressure system over the region. The period will see scattered rain, which may become thundery at times, and strong winds.

Rain and scattered thundershowers were reported from a number of places on Tuesday, particularly the southern parts of the country.

Wednesday’s detailed forecast says the wind speed may go up to 35 knots in some inshore areas during thundery rain and 30 knots offshore, with the sea level rising to 9ft.

Cloudy conditions are likely in both inshore and offshore areas, and there is a chance of scattered rain that may turn thundery at times. Visibility, meanwhile, may drop to 2km or less in some inshore areas during thundershowers.

The minimum temperature is expected to be 22C in Abu Samra on Wednesday, followed by 23C in Dukhan, Al Khor and Ruwais, and 24C in Doha, Wakrah and Mesaieed. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 28C in Ruwais to 32C in Abu Samra, with Doha expected to see a high of 29C.

Tuesday, the minimum temperature was 18C in Ghuwairiyah, 19C in Al Khor, Dukhan and Shehaimiya, and 23C in Doha, Wakrah and Abu Hamour. The maximum was 37C in Jumayliyah, 36C in Sheehaniya and other places, and 33C in Doha.
