The Ramadan Market will be held at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre from May 10 to 30, the organisers have announced.
The event “is sure to provide an entertaining shopping experience for local residents and a solid platform for local and international traders and visitors to offer their unique products to the Qatari market”, according to a press statement.
The Ramadan Market is being organised by QSports in collaboration with United Expo.
The organisers said they “are confident” that the event’s atmosphere will characterise the holy month with bright lights and Islamic motifs at the venue. The Ramadan Market will open daily from 2pm until midnight during the above-mentioned period.
“Dubbed as one of the biggest shopping, food and entertainment destinations during the 2019 Ramadan season, the Market is the ideal venue for a leisurely shopping and entertainment experience for the whole family with local food vendors open from Iftar time until closing,” the statement noted.
Children can also enjoy various inflatable activates, including the ‘world’s largest’ Bounce Kingdom, five mechanical inflatables (Toxic Twister, Toxic Meltdown, Baby Cow, Soccer Rodeo and Jacobs Ladder), two skill games and a special kids’ programme planned for Garangao, it added.
Entry to the Ramadan Market will be free for all.
The initiative “is based on a unique concept mainly focusing on shopping with an international flavour”, the organisers explained, adding that over 200 retail shops representing different cultures, ethnicity, handicrafts and branded products from more than 25 countries will be part of the event.
Besides Qatar, the countries to be represented include Kuwait, Oman, Turkey, Iran, India, Pakistan, China, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Thailand, Malaysia, Italy  and the US. Products and brands from some other European and African countries will also be displayed.
Ghanim al-Mohannadi, deputy chairman of QSports, said: “One of the aims of the Ramadan Market is to promote local small businesses. So, we have allocated dedicated reserved spaces for local businesses wanting to take part in the event to showcase their products.”
