The Qatar Met department has said chances of scattered rain, as well as thundershowers at times, are expected to continue until the weekend.

In a report on Monday, the department said the unsettled weather conditions were likely to affect the country from this evening until the weekend due to the extension of a low-pressure system over the region.

Accordingly, there is a possibility of intermittent, scattered rain, which may become thundery at times and will be accompanied by strong winds – especially during the evening and night.

The amount of rainfall is expected to be within the normal range for this time of the year, the report states.

The Met department has urged people to always obtain weather-related information from official sources, be cautious and avoid going to sea due to the expected unsettled weather conditions.

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s forecast says thundershowers and sudden strong winds are expected in the country by tonight. The weather office has also issued a marine warning for thundery rain, windy conditions and high seas on Tuesday.

The wind speed may go up to 28 knots in some inshore areas during thundershowers and 25 knots offshore, while the sea level may rise to 8ft.

Cloudy conditions are likely both inshore and offshore and there is a chance of scattered rain that may turn thundery at times, particularly by night in inshore areas.

The minimum temperature is expected to be 22C in Al Khor on Tuesday, followed by 23C in Dukhan, Abu Samra and Ruwais, 24C in Wakrah and Mesaieed, and 25C in Doha. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 29C in Ruwais and Abu Samra to 32C in Doha, Al Khor and Dukhan.

Monday, the minimum temperature was 23C in Dukhan, Abu Samra, Sheehaniya, Al Khor and other places, and 25C in Doha, Abu Hamour and the Hamad International Airport area. The maximum was 35C in Abu Hamour, Sheehaniya and other places, and 33C in Doha.
