Qatar Chamber assured its support for the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in securing government tenders, an official said Sunday on the sidelines of the Government Procurement and Contracting Conference & Exhibition ‘Moushtarayat 2019’.
On the sidelines of the event, which will run until April 2 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, Qatar Chamber director general Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi said ‘Moushtarayat 2019’ reflects the importance of enhancing interaction between SMEs and governmental ministries and institutions.
Al-Sharqi said the event represents an important platform for SMEs to liaise with governmental bodies in identifying tenders and contracts, thus opening the horizons of co-operation with government agencies to secure projects.
He also underscored the chamber’s annual participation in the exhibition, which aims to strengthen the communication between SMEs, ministries, and institutions involved in Moushtarayat, as well as its role as a representative of the private sector and in supporting SMEs and Qatari entrepreneurs.
Al-Sharqi also noted that Qatar Chamber also seeks to increase the opportunities for SMEs participation in government contracts.
He said Moushtarayat 2019 stresses the government’s interest and keenness to engage SMEs in procurements and projects. He noted that the exhibition provides the opportunity for direct encounter between participating companies and different ministries and government agencies, paving the way for the participation of SMEs in tenders and government contracts. This also reflects the true meaning of public-private partnership (PPP).
Al-Sharqi also affirmed the importance of providing the opportunity for SMEs to participate in projects being held outside the country, and noted that this provides more options for these enterprises to obtain local and foreign tenders.
Qatar Chamber board members engineer Ali Abdul Latif al-Misnad and Abdel Rahman al-Ansari also attended the inauguration ceremony.
