The industrial field has become one of the most important economic sectors that contributed to Qatar’s economic diversification, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari has said.

In a meeting with Qatar Chamber officials, al-Kuwari also noted that the industrial sector also played a role in Qatar’s achievement of self-sufficiency, which is one of the country’s key strategies.

During the meeting, the minister also met with Chamber members and manufacturers and underscored the MoCI’s role in supporting the business community and enhancing the private sector role, as well as addressing the challenges that could hinder its role in sustainable economic development.

Al-Kuwari lauded the level of cooperation between the MoCI and the Chamber in terms of holding meetings with different economic industries and sectors to identify challenges and how to address them.

Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani said the Chamber welcomes the cooperation with the MoCI. He praised the minister’s keenness to meet businessmen to identify their needs and the solutions to the challenges they encounter.

Chamber first vice chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari said the industrial sector has become strategic for the State of Qatar, being the core of any economy. He noted that the unjust siege on the country revealed the importance of having a national industry to overcome crises, even as he highlighted the role of the Qatari food industry in overcoming the blockade.

He called on all parties involved to work on developing the sector, and to help Qatari businessmen enhance their investments in all industrial fields. He praised the State’s support and stressed that businessmen must make new investments, particularly in the petrochemical space.
