The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will implement a traffic diversion along Al Luqta Street between the Tilted Junction and Al Gharrafa Interchange from Friday, March 29. The road layout change will remain in place for a year, Ashghal has said in a statement.
During the diversion, designed in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, a new two-lane road parallel to Al Luqta Street will replace the existing diversion and steel bridge. Road users heading from the Tilted Junction towards Al Gharrafa Interchange and vice-versa will be shifted to the new parallel road. The diversion will be carried out to facilitate the construction of a new tunnel on the Al Bustan North project as part of the Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, the statement noted. The authority will install road signs advising motorists of the traffic shift and has requested all road users to abide by the 50kmph speed limit and follow road signs to ensure their safety.
