Qatar's International Medical and Health Exhibition (QMED) will kick off on Monday at Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) with nearly 40 local and international companies participating in it.

The exhibition being held under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) will provide a platform to enable communication between the most prominent local, regional and international companies in the sector. It will also highlight the latest trends and developments in the healthcare sector in Qatar.

An exhibition will also take place alongside the conference which will be held on a total area of up to 5,000sq m and specialised workshops with the participation of about 500 doctors from all medical specialties.

The exhibition and conference aims to exchange experiences, identify medical developments and discoveries in the health care sector, provide better treatment services, support activities that lay the foundations for a healthy and strong society and encourage innovation in healthcare in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Ali Abdullah al-Khater, chair of the healthcare communications committee at the MoPH, said QMED has great importance in developing the infrastructure and services in the health sector. “It also is beneficial to health service providers by introducing them to technological developments with regards to providing services to patients and visitors.”

He added that such events have a positive impact on the health services development and their structure and are a key pillar for countries with regards to the development of the health sector infrastructure.

Al-Khater said the MoPH's sponsorship of this important event comes from its keenness to familiarise itself with all that is new in the field of medicine and to communicate with those interested in healthcare and medical devices, in order to support the quality of health services and positively reflect the patient's service.

He added that the event is a platform for co-operation between all stakeholders to support government initiatives, highlight the latest technologies and medical solutions, and strengthen the ministry's plans to raise the level of healthcare in Qatar in line with the National Health Strategy and QNV 2030.

Khalifa al-Mohannadi, manager of Sogha Exhibitions and Conferences, said the event is an investment opportunity for the leaders of the medical sector in Qatar to get acquainted and cooperate with about 12 participating countries from the field.

He added that the exhibition includes the latest medical devices found in European countries, medical supplies and furniture and the latest pathology laboratories and radiation. (QNA)
