The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has announced that it is commemorating World Consumer Rights Day with a public outreach event.
Being held at Mall of Qatar, near West Gate 3, from today until March 17 (from 12noon to 9pm), the event is aimed at raising awareness about telecom consumers’ rights and responsibilities.
The event includes awareness activities for children and adults, and CRA’s team will provide visitors with awareness tips to better understand their rights and responsibilities as telecom consumers in Qatar. It will also educate them on other topics such as international roaming and scam SMSes and calls.
Visitors will know more about CRA’s role, public services and telecom complaint process, and will also be able to lodge their complaints onsite.
“In line with CRA’s mandate, we ensure to balance the rights of consumers with the needs of service providers, and as protecting the rights of telecom consumers is at the heart of everything we do. I would like to invite all consumers to join us at the event to listen directly to their feedback about telecom services in Qatar, and to educate them more about their rights and responsibilities,” said Amel Salem al-Hanawi, Consumer Affairs Department manager, CRA.
CRA is the communications regulator in Qatar and works to ensure that consumers have the best experience with telecom services, according to a press statement. To this end, CRA has issued different regulatory instruments like the telecommunications Consumer Protection Policy and Code on Advertising, Marketing & Branding.
Telecom consumers can contact CRA for inquiries or to lodge a complaint through different channels: from Qatar through CRA’s  24/7 hotline number (103), 00974 44069938 from overseas, CRA’s e-mail address [email protected], CRA’s mobile application ‘Arsel’, or CRA’s twitter account @CRAqatar.
