Qatar Cyclists, a Ministry of Culture and Sports-supported entity, has announced Dolphin Energy Limited as an official partner of the Ooredoo Ride of Champions, which is set to take place on March 15 at the Ceremonial Court of Qatar Foundation.
The partnership agreement comes as part of Dolphin Energy’s “continued commitment to promoting health and well-being across the local community”, according to a press statement. More than 1,500 participants are expected to take part in the five rides offered by the third edition of the event, surpassing the previous record of 1,100 riders set during the 2017 edition, the statement notes.
Hassan al-Emadi, general manager - Qatar, Dolphin Energy, said: “We are delighted to partner with the Qatar Cyclists Centre and support the third Ride of Champions. This is the first year of our involvement and it gives us the opportunity to tap an increasingly popular pastime and extend our commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and well-being in the process.”
The 2019 Ooredoo Ride of Champions offers various rides that cater to all ages and levels of experience. Adults and children over the age of nine years can participate together in a 5.8km family ride on the premises of Qatar Foundation, which will also host a 1km race for kids, aged between three and eight years, at the Green Spine. More experienced cyclists can choose between three road rides with different distances — 137.5km, 78km or 48km. Ali bin Tawar al-Kuwari, Qatar Cyclists board member, said: “Qatar Cyclists welcomes Dolphin Energy as an official partner of the 2019 Ride of Champions. We deeply thank them for their support. They set an example to every company in Qatar on how to promote sports and an active lifestyle among their employees and support the local community.”
Thani al-Zaraa, Qatar Cyclists board member and part of the event organising team, added: “We are proud to be co-operating with Dolphin Energy to ensure the success of the 2019 Ooredoo Ride of Champions.
“It is a wonderful event that brings together all members of our community from all ages and all nationalities to celebrate the sport of cycling.”
