College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) recently hosted its signature International Women’s Day event, ‘Fit & Fabulous’.
The event hosted inspiring women from the Doha community and the college community to speak about personal growth, empowerment and well-being, CNA-Q said in a statement.
“We are redefining what fit and fabulous means, in the context of empowering women’s lives and well-being,” said Aljazzi Fetais, vice-president – Student Affairs. “We want our students to be strong and successful in their studies, in their personal lives, in their careers and of course in their physical and mental health. Today’s session covered all these topics, and empowered our women to be well equipped to shape fabulous futures for themselves.”
Qatari chef Noor Ahmed al-Mazroei spoke at the event about her passion for food, spirit for entrepreneurship and how to live a healthy and happy life.
“I do not advocate for a certain type of lifestyle. I’m encouraging you to cook and make the kitchen your zone. Find alternatives, don’t make things difficult and do what works for you,” chef Noor said.
Other speakers from the day included businesswomen Elisabete Reis, founder of Glam Your Image; and Elizabeth Wood, founder of Inspire Me
Consultancy.
The college profiled its own speakers as well, including counsellor Nadine Humber, along with health and fitness trainers Kristen Rendall and Megan Skeels.
Sponsored by Qatar Petrochemical Company, the event was timely as it was held during the week in International Women’s Day fell, March 8.
A decision was made to open the event to both women and men as it was focused on shared life lessons everyone could learn from, the statement noted.
‘Fit & Fabulous’ was one of many women-focused events hosted over the course of a few weeks on the CNA-Q campus. Recently, Marie Quigley gave a lecture titled ‘Dare to Lead’, and next week she will return to give a presentation on emotional intelligence.
