The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will convert Al-Rifaa Intersection (Sanaa signal) into a temporary roundabout, in addition to diverting traffic on part of A-Ring Road in both directions, from after Ras Bu Abboud Bridge up to Dar Al-Kutub Roundabout, onto a parallel diversion road with the same number of lanes.

The diversion will start on this evening and remain in place for a period of three months, in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, Ashghal has said in a statement. During this period, the authority will also close the part of Ali bin Omar Al-Attiya Street that leads to and from Al-Rifaa Intersection, so traffic heading from the intersection to Ali bin Omar Al-Attiya Street can use a temporary parallel road. Traffic heading from Ali bin Omar Al-Attiya Street towards Al-Rifaa Intersection can use Al-Dostour Street leading to Dar Al-Kutub Roundabout and then to Al-Rifaa Intersection.

This is in addition to diverting the right turn leading from A-Ring Road to B-Ring Road (towards Al-Doha Al-Jadeeda Intersection) and vice-versa, as shown on the attached map. The diversion aims to enable expansion and upgrading works at Al-Rifaa Intersection and the installation of new traffic lights as part of the A-Ring Road Development Project, which will contribute to enhancing traffic movement and reducing congestion in the areas surrounding A-Ring Road, the statement explains.

Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists of the diversion. It has also requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow road signs to ensure their safety.
