Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel is “okay” after crashing into barriers during the Formula One pre-season test in Barcelona yesterday.
The team gave the update online and said he flew off the track at curve 3 “due to a mechanical problem”. Vettel, 31, was given a mandatory assessment in the circuit medical centre.
Ferrari have impressed so far in the difficult to judge pre-season tests which continue to Friday.
“We don’t know much more than everyone knows,” Vettel was quoted by the BBC. “We are flat out trying to understand. 
“It would be a lot easier if there was a lot of run-off and the car didn’t hit anything right after because now it is fairly damaged because of the hit so we have to be careful working out what happened.
“Overall the car is strong, it feels good. We have been exploring a lot of things since day one and it has been very productive. Overall, I am still positive about the car and the feeling inside the car.”
