The Visa Support Services Department at the General Directorate of Passports, Ministry of Interior (MoI), has held a seminar for semi-government companies to introduce work visa procedures through Qatar Visa Centres (QVCs) located abroad.

Major Abdullah Khalifa al-Mohannadi, director of the department, gave details of the QVCs and the procedures related to recruitment. He said the opening of QVCs abroad is part of Qatar's keenness to protect the rights of expatriates, the MoI tweeted.

"Through the QVCs, both the employer and employee will be able to play their role accurately through an integrated recruitment system," he said, informing that the first phase of the project is focusing on expatriates from eight countries - Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, Tunisia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and the Philippines - that will host 20 centres.

He added that private and semi-government companies need to bring expatriates to Qatar through those visa centres, the official Qatar News Agency reported. Qatar inaugurated the first QVC back in October 2018 in Sri Lanka, followed by two other centres in Pakistan.
