The country is likely to experience dusty conditions and strong winds over the coming weekend, the Qatar Met department. This will be preceded by a spell of unsettled weather and rain between Wednesday and Friday morning, according to the forecast. The weather office has also issued a marine warning for this period.

In a report on Tuesday, the Met department said weather charts indicate that “strong northwesterly winds are expected to affect the country from Friday evening until Saturday evening”. The wind speed will range from 18-28 knots, going up to 40 knots at times in some places. This, in turn, will result in dust and poor visibility (below 1km) in most areas, with generally dusty conditions prevailing across the country.

Also, the sea state is expected to be rough, with the wave reaching 12ft.

The windy conditions are expected to ease on Saturday evening and there will be a noticeable drop in temperature, with the maximum likely to range from 18-22C and the minimum from 14-16C, the report states. Meanwhile, unsettled weather is expected in the country from Wednesday until Friday morning as the cloud amount will increase gradually and there is a chance of scattered rain, which will mostly be light to moderate in intensity, the report adds.

The rain may become thundery at times in some areas, accompanied by strong winds for a “limited period of time”. The Met department has advised people to be cautious and avoid all marine activities in view of the expected conditions, and also urged them to follow latest updates through its official social media accounts. Today’s detailed forecast says thundershowers, strong winds and high seas are expected in offshore areas, and there is also a possibility of light rain in some inshore areas.

The wind speed may go up to 33 knots offshore during thundery rain, with the sea level rising to 10ft. Cloudy conditions will prevail in these areas at times and there is a chance of scattered rain, which may become thundery later, the Met department has said.

Inshore, moderate daytime temperatures are expected along with cloudy conditions. There are chances of light rain in some places.

The minimum temperature on Wednesday is expected to be 13C in Al Khor, 14C in Wakrah and Mesaieed, 16C in Dukhan and Abu Samra, and 17C in Doha and Ruwais. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 25C in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Ruwais to 28C in Doha.
