Italians shooters hogged the limelight in the trap finals of the Qatar Open shooting championship at Lusail Complex Shooting yesterday.
In the men’s trap section, Italians Erminio Frasca and Valerio Grazini finished first and second, while France’s Sebastien Guerrero was third.
In the women’s section, Italy’s Maria Stanco Silvana emerged as the champion, while Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova of Slovakia came second and Melanie Couzy of France secured the third place.
Vivaan Kapoor of India won in the junior men’s section ahead of his 20-year-old compatriot Manavaditaya Rathore, the son of 2004 Asian Games gold medallist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. Kacper Dopierala of Poland came third. Manavaditaya had finished runner-up last year too.
Qatar’s Noora al-Mohannadi won in the women’s junior section.
Around 280 shooters from 38 countries are taking take part in the ninth edition of the championship. The final of the mixed trap team will be held today and double trap finals are slated for Wednesday. Skeet finals will be held on March 2.
