Abu Samra in southern Qatar saw the temperature drop to 6.6C yesterday, the lowest recorded so far this winter, the Met department said.
This came as the country continued to be affected by cold conditions, especially at night and early in the morning.
Today’s forecast says moderate temperature is expected during the day along with cloudy conditions.
There is a chance of light rain in some places, and it will be cold by night.
Partly cloudy conditions are likely in offshore areas today, and there is also a possibility of scattered rain at times.
The minimum temperature today is expected to be 11C in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Abu Samra, 12C in Al Khor, 17C in Doha and Dukhan, and 18C in Ruwais.
On the other hand, the maximum temperature will be 21C in Dukhan, 22C in Doha, Wakrah, Mesaieed, Al Khor and Ruwais, and 23C in Abu Samra.
The Met department had on Wednesday tweeted that the drop in temperature  is expected until this weekend, particularly during the night and early in the morning.
Yesterday, a number of places in the country saw the temperature drop below 10C.
Leading the list was Abu Samra, where the weather station recorded the lowest temperature of 6.6C yesterday, followed by Turayna at 8.5C, Batna at 9C, Mesaieed at 9.4C and Al Khor at 9.9C.
Next were Jumayliyah at 10C, Karana at 10.1C, Wakrah, Sheehaniya and Ghuwairiyah at 11C, the Qatar University area at 13.3C, Hamad International Airport area and Abu Hamour at 14C, Ras Laffan at 14.1C and Doha at 14.6C, according to the weather charts.
