The Ministry of Culture and Sports has launched a series of events in the Murouj area of Kuwait, as part of Qatar’s activities to participate in the National Day celebrations of Kuwait.
The events, organised and supervised by the Qatar Centre for Cultural and Heritage Events, will include six cultural, artistic and sporting events celebrating Kuwait’s national holidays and continuing until February 26.
The organising committee of the celebrations explained that these events are being held in the main theatre. Activities of the educational sector are being attended by students from Qatar, and these include Al Ardha, other cultural performances and special theatrical shows for children.
The Qatari events also include poetry and literary evenings, Rababa recitals as well as competitions involving popular puzzles. Further, the events comprise camel shows and riding instructions as well as tug of war.
In order to expand the Qatari participation to include activities aimed directly at children, a Qatari puppet theatre team will present puppet shows and various plays.
In addition, the Qatari participation includes Al-Bida’a, which offers traditional maritime crafts; Al Nokhatha, a popular cafe; and Al Damah competition, which has seen considerable public interest during the previous Qatari participation in the Kuwait National Day celebrations.
Qatar is also participating in the Gulf traditional heritage festival held at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village, which continues until March 2.
