Katara-The Cultural Village Foundation will unveil today at building 39 a mural titled ‘Challenge’ in tribute to the late Qatari artist Yousef al-Sada. The artwork consists of more than 1mn mosaic art pieces that decorates the walls at the entrance of Katara. The large-scale artwork was made using the mosaic technique to enlarge the original painting.
Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti said this painting was selected for its lovely pattern that goes well with Katara’s theme and because Katara always supports local artists. “Although the late artist had very few artworks, they were very unique and valuable, and should be commemorated,” Sulaiti explained.
The painting features a face of a sailorman glowing from the reflection of the blazing sunlight. “This artwork is to commemorate a noted Qatari artist who left us early at a young age but his legacy will remain everywhere,” Sulaiti said. He added that al-Sada had a vision and a great taste in art which motivated Katara to adopt his artworks.
