AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, NBK Holding and Al Waab City celebrated Qatar National Sports Day with the second Fun Run, which took place in Al Waab.
The event was attended by AFG founder and chairperson Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh al-Thani, NBK Holding chairman Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani, and Sheikh Jassim bin Nawaf al-Thani, Al Waab City representative, along with staff and families of AFG College, partnering and sponsoring companies and the public.
Despite predictions of bad weather, hundreds of students, lecturers, senior representatives of the supporting companies, families and members of the community turned out in support of the 3km run, a statement noted.
Dr Sheikha Aisha said, “Our annual National Sport Day is a way for all of us in Qatar to come together and show our support and dedication in helping achieve a happier and healthier lifestyle. The fact that so many students and staff from AFG College have turned out, alongside members of the community, is fantastic. I am always so encouraged when events like this take place and people from all walks of life come together in support of the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.”
Sheikh Nawaf said, “I welcomed the opportunity for NBK Holding and its subsidiaries to be part of such a special event. Now in its eighth year, our National Sport Day, which was gifted to us by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, continues to grow from strength to strength and as we’ve seen from today’s event it has become a real focal point for community engagement; which plays a key role in NBK’s wider support of the community that we operate in.”
