Vodafone used their role of being at the forefront of the digital era to engage the community on Qatar National Sport Day 2019, in a host of digital and interactive sports activities, powered by the company’s GigaNet network.
Held at Qatar Foundation’s Ceremonial Court, the family fun activities were designed to showcase how technology can enable an active lifestyle and promote well-being.
The highlight was the “GigaNet Sprint Challenge”, a 15m wall that challenged the young and old alike to race against Vodafone’s superfast GigaNet network.
Vodafone unveiled GigaNet – the network of the future – last month as the company’s promise to customers and to the country to pioneer the latest technologies and digital innovations.
Visitors also got to experience augmented reality football and virtual reality boxing over Vodafone GigaNet.
This enabled the gamers to enjoy GigaNet’s extremely fast speeds and ultra-low latency, eliminating the lag often experienced in gaming with current technologies.
Moreover, as the platinum sponsor of Qatar Foundation’s National Sport Day event, for the second year in a row, Vodafone handed out cash prizes worth more than QR40,000 to winners of the QF Race, a large-scale 3km obstacle course spanning the length of Oxygen Park.
Mahday Saad al-Hebabi, Vodafone Qatar’s head of business sales, was on hand to celebrate with the winners and hand them their cheques.
“His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s initiative to promote sports amongst the population is of immense public value, which Vodafone has supported since Qatar National Sport Day was founded in 2012,” said the official.
