The Government Communications Office (GCO) has called upon all citizens and residents in Qatar to avoid slipping into the abuse of peoples and communities and their symbols on the social media outlets and elsewhere , in line with the true principles of Islam and genuine Arab ethics.

In a press statement on Monday, the GCO said it is following with great regret the mutual abuses that have overshadowed exchanges on social media outlets recently.

The GCO said this call is derived from the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who in his first speech after the blockade, commended the Qatari people's adherence to values and principles even in times of differences, and stressed the need to continue on this approach.

The GCO noted that Qatar had earlier responded to the appeal of the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah on October 24, 2017, to preserve the rights of future generations, heal the wounds and avoid slipping into abuse. The GCO had also called upon everybody to refrain from the exchange of abuses.

Urging the citizens and residents of Qatar to commit to authentic values when responding to abuses and fabrications, the Government Communications Office reiterated that Qatar's case is just and it does not require exaggeration, and the people's defence of the homeland is based on justice, fairness and objective facts.
