The Qatar Met department has issued a special forecast for National Sport Day, which will be celebrated around the country on Tuesday.

The forecast is for the period extending from 6am to 10pm Tuesday.

There is a warning for strong winds, high waves and low visibility in some areas. It will also be relatively cold and scattered clouds are expected along with slight to blowing dust in some areas.

Northwesterly winds will blow at a speed of 15-28 knots during the day, dropping to 5-15 knots at night, with the sea level rising to 13ft in some areas.

Visibility, meanwhile, may drop to 3km in some places due to blowing dust.

The temperature is expected to range from 15C to 23C across the country.


Thundershowers expected on Monday

Thundershowers are expected in some places in the country on Monday along with strong winds by the evening, the Qatar Met department has said.

The weather office has also issued a warning for thundery rain in some offshore areas as well as windy conditions and high seas by night.

The wind speed may go up to 30 knots offshore and 25 knots inshore during thundershowers, with the sea level rising to 9ft by night.

The detailed forecast says inshore areas will see cloudy conditions and scattered rain, which may become thundery at times, and there will also be slight dust in some places occasionally. It will be relatively cold by night.

Monday, the minimum temperature is expected to be 17C in Abu Samra and 20C in Doha, while the maximum will be 24C in Doha and 28C in Abu Samra.
