Minister calls for enhancing leadership skills of govt staff

Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour, and Social Affairs celebrated the graduation of the third batch of the Leadership Training Programme for government staff.

The class included 78 participants.

Speaking during the event, HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour, and Social Affairs Yousef bin Mohamed al-Othman Fakhroo called for efforts to prepare leaders in all governmental bodies, as they will be in charge of implementing the different administrative projects.

He added that the Leadership Training Programme is part of the ministry's efforts in the field of administrative development.

It aims to develop the leadership skills of people in governmental bodies to ensure that current and future staff continue to provide excellent services locally and regionally.

The minister added that the programme enables supervisors to carry out the tasks and responsibilities assigned to them according to the best international standards in the field of administrative development.

The programme contained administrative, legal, financial and other information that enable the managers and supervisors to carry out their work efficiently in order to realise Qatar National Vision 2030, highlighting the commitment of the wise leadership to the Qatari human capital.

The minister referenced the speech of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani during the 44th session of the Advisory Council, which emphasised that human capital is the real source of wealth.

The minister also highlighted that the Amir had said that an official must ask himself what did he give to his country and how can he be more useful.

The minister noted that the graduates attended the programme for a full year and were a role model in loyalty, despite having other engagements and responsibilities.

The minister noted that they contributed to the success of this programme by attending, discussing and presenting their positive experiences that benefited everyone.

He noted that 78 participants graduated this year and a total of 246 graduated from the previous two classes.

He stressed the importance of academic and scientific experience in that regard, highlighting that the ministry will offer a number of training programmes and workshops to cover new topic needed by those in leadership positions.

Meanwhile, Vice-President of Administration and Finance Associate at Doha Institute for Graduate Study, Professor Hend Abdalrahman Mohamed al-Muftah, said yesterday that the institute has an agreement with the Ministry of Administrative Development since 2014.

Under this agreement, 134 leaders from the first group were graduated and 112 graduated from the second group.

"Today we celebrate the graduation of 78 leaders in the third group of participants in this ambitious training programme," she said.

She called on all graduates working in the public sector to constantly improve their work, stressing that they have the passion and the will and efficiency to do so, especially after the blockade, which for its part proved that building the Qatari human capital guarantees long-term sustainable returns.

For his part, Turki Abdullah al-Mahmoud gave a speech on behalf of the graduates and said that the workshops held as part of the programme helped the participants gain valuable experience and deep understanding of the reasons behind implementing certain policies.

Head of the institute of general management at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour, and Social Affairs, Abdulaziz Saad al-Majli, stressed the importance of raising the efficiency of employees, particularly those in leadership position in government bodies.

He noted that the programme's graduates learned, among other things, how to overcome crises.

He noted also that the institute takes into consideration the needs of ministries when preparing its programmes.

He said there are 80 participants in the fourth batch.
