HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani met separately in Washington Friday with US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and National Security Adviser John Bolton.
The two meetings discussed strategic ties between Qatar and the US, in addition to key regional and international issues.
HE Sheikh Mohamed also met separately with Senior Adviser to the US President Jared Kushner, Personal Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt, Co-ordinator for Counter-terrorism at the State Department Nathan Sales, Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, and a number of Congress members.
The meetings discussed the strategic bilateral relations and a number of regional and international issues, particularly peace in Afghanistan, Palestine, and joint efforts to combat terrorism and its financing.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said that he looks forward to hosting US
officials in Qatar throughout this year, and to being back to the US as well.
He added that they were communicating to find resolutions to the region's most urgent issues.
HE Sheikh Mohamed stressed that Qatar highly appreciates its ties with the US, and noted that the meetings were part of an ongoing dialogue in all fields of joint interest and that they provide an opportunity to exchange views on important international issues, including efforts to counter violent extremism.
His visit to Washington follows the Second Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue that was held in Doha and saw the signing of three memorandums of understanding and a statement of intent to enhance co-operation on the politically, economic, and social levels.
His Excellency stressed, during his participation at the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition To Defeat ISIS that took place in Washington on Wednesday, that the State of Qatar is committed to contributing to the efforts made to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

It is worth noting that the strategic ties between Qatar and the US began 45 years ago.
