The joint security committee of Qatar and Turkey held its fourth meeting on Tuesday in the Turkish capital of Ankara.
Qatar's delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), and the security committee of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC).
Director of International Co-operation Department at MoI Major General Engineer Abdul Aziz Abdullah al-Ansari headed Qatar's delegation.
The meeting comes as a continuation of the previous series of meetings and implementation of the directives of the security leaders in both countries to activate mechanisms of co-operation in accordance with the security plan adopted in this regard for 2019.
The plan stressed the importance of activating bilateral co-operation, especially in the areas of combating organised crime, terrorism and drugs, enhancing aviation security and passenger safety, cybersecurity, and border security.
The participants stressed the importance of opening more channels of communication between them, especially in relation to the exchange of expertise and experts in the field of securing the activities of the 2022 World Cup.
The joint security committee of Qatar and Turkey was formed in the implementation of the security agreement concluded between them.
The committee's meetings are held alternately in both countries to discuss and follow up the issues on its agenda and the decisions reached, in addition to reviewing the latest developments in the security sector.
