Qatar Museums (QM) is set to organise the annual Teachers Council to inform school teachers about the organisation’s upcoming educational programmes and exhibitions for 2019.
The first session for English speakers will take place on January 24 while the second session for Arabic speakers will be held on January 31. Both sessions will take place at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) from 9am to 1pm.
In addition to hearing from attendees, museums that fall under QM’s umbrella will also discuss their upcoming activities and ways in which teachers can incorporate the numerous services on offer into their curriculum.
Ahead of the National Museum of Qatar’s (NMoQ) opening in March, this year’s Teachers Council will prominently feature the announcement of NMoQ’s programming and their team will speak about its future activities and educational resources.
Information about the exhibitions, educational workshops and events for the 2018-2019 academic year will be addressed, according to QM.
At the event, the teachers will be able to network with their colleagues, museum educators and other professionals, to ask questions and contribute ideas.
The annual Teachers Council is an initiative set up by QM under the patronage of its chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani. It aims to enable teachers to engage more closely with the museums and gather their feedback on QM’s educational programmes and resources as part of ongoing refinement and improvement of ways of working together.
This initiative falls in line with QM’s commitment to contributing to the educational landscape of Qatar as a provider of informal education and life-long learning through aligning its offerings and learning opportunities with the interests of the local schools.
