Qatar is fast emerging as a hub for fashion, attracting many internationally-renowned designers who want to showcase their collections at several exhibitions and shows in Doha.
“The fashion scene in Qatar is very forward, and especially in women’s wear I think they are very adventurous and like to stand out and I love that,” said Manish Arora, known as one of the most celebrated and inspiring contemporary Indian designers in the fashion world.
"With Fifty One East, being one of the best retailers, I don’t think Qatar is behind anybody in fashion,” he told Gulf Times at an exclusive preview of his X PSG’s (Paris Saint-German) SS19 capsule collection recently at Fifty One East, Lagoona Mall, following a successful launch at Paris Fashion Week.
The event was attended by Fifty One East chairman and managing director Bader Abdullah al-Darwish, PSG players Marco Verratti and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, and several other guests.

Arora also expressed interest to return to Doha for possible collaborations, especially in a number of projects and events related to the 2019 Qatar – India Year of Culture.
“If I get somebody with a good idea and want me to do it I will definitely want to come back again,” he said.
Arora is known for his astute craftsmanship and unique play on colours such as his trademark palette of pink and gold. It was in 1997, that the world 1st viewed his design aesthetic with the launch of his label 'Manish Arora’. 
With this, the Indian designer grew from strength to strength gaining a devoted following in the fashion world, which finally led to Arora exhibiting at the London Fashion Week in 2005. In 2007, Arora showcased for the first time at the Paris Fashion Week. He became a member of the distinguished French Federation of Pret-a-Porter in 2009.
Apart from Arora, several fashion events in Doha also featured other acclaimed Indian fashion designers such as Manish Malhotra, along with Bollywood celebrity and global fashion icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan during the Fashion Weekend International 2018.
Five designers from Mumbai – Raghavendra Rathore, Raw Mango, Tarun Tahiliani, Namrata Joshipura and Wendell Rodricks – showcased their latest spring/summer collections in a series of fashion shows at Shop Qatar’s recently concluded Design District at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
