The Academic Bridge Programme (ABP), part of Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education, recently organised a spring orientation event for 20 students.
During the event, which was held at ABP’s building in Education City, the new joiners were introduced to the centre’s faculty and staff members, and learned about ABP’s facilities, policies and activities.
Dr Bryan Lewallen, director, delivered a speech welcoming the new students, followed by an address by Moza al-Boainain, assistant director for Student Services, explaining how the department could help refine and improve students’ skills through a series of activities and programmes.
Al-Boainain also provided an overview of the initiatives, clubs and events that can help build their leadership skills.
Meanwhile, Dr Mark Newmark, assistant director for Academic Affairs, explained the importance of committing to the course in order to benefit from the programme. “ABP serves as a bridge for students to get into university, but they need to work hard and ensure they maximise the value they can gain from the classes they will attend at ABP,” he said.
As part of the orientation, students learned about college admissions and how ABP helps students with university applications from the programme’s counsellor, Jacqueline L Nottingham.
