The graduation ceremony of the first batch of graduates of the Qatar Police College will be held today.
This was announced at a press conference held at the Police College yesterday morning.
The press conference was attended by Brig Gen Dr Mohamed Abdullah al-Mahna al-Marri, director-general of the Police College; Lt Col Dr Jabar Hamoud al-Noaimi, director of the Administrative and Economic Affairs Department; and Maj Fahd al-Subaie, director of the Training Department.
Brig Gen Dr al-Marri said since its establishment in 2013, the Police College has been a prominent pillar of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for preparing and qualifying officers for a BA degree in Law and Police Sciences. The graduates completed, over four years, studies divided into eight semesters that included courses on legal and police subjects and training within and outside the country, he noted.
In preparation for the graduation of the first batch of the college, a Higher Committee was established under the chairmanship of Major General Abdullah Yousuf al-Mal, adviser to HE the Minister of Interior and vice-president of the Supreme Council of the Police College, to organise the ceremony.
He said the Qatar Police College is distinguished among its counterparts around the world in terms of curricula, training and qualification programmes that have not been approved in many police colleges. He added that the scientific and training curriculum pursued by the college aims to prepare a modern policeman who has the ability to meet all challenges in the field of work.
Lt Col Dr al-Noaimi said the 85 Qatari graduates of the total number of 108 graduates will be distributed among various military bodies in the country. He added that the presence of some graduates from Kuwait, Jordan, Palestine and Yemen in the first batch of the college came in response to directives from the MoI to provide an opportunity for all.
Maj al-Subaie explained that the studies included specialised courses such as diving, paragliding and thunderbolt training to ensure that the graduates are qualified at the best levels to cope with major challenges and dilemmas related to the security fields.
He added that 388 students from the first, second, third and fourth batches would participate in the military parade to be held as part of the graduation ceremony of the first batch of Qatar Police College today.
