Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has announced the relocation of the Wage Protection System (WPS) centre from Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) to the newly-opened Industrial Area branch located at Barwa Commercial Avenue.
The relocation of the WPS centre is part of a plan combining all teams to service WPS clients under one roof in an efficient and timely manner. The new centre is open Sunday to Thursday from 7.30am to 1pm; and in the evening from the 10th up to the 25th of each month, Sunday to Wednesday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm; and Saturdays from 9am to noon.
Tarek Fawzi, general manager of QIB’s Wholesale Banking Group, said: “The relocation of the centre is a part of QIB’s digital transformation strategy to offer financial services and products in an efficient and timely manner. “The new WPS centre offers a one-stop-shop solution to its WPS corporate and individual customers, allowing new clients to enrol in WPS and existing clients to process employee salaries and opening accounts for new employees, as well as e-registration on the WPS website.”
In this context, QIB recently launched the WPS online portal, which allows clients to register for free by filling out the application form on the QIB website or Industrial Area branch and identify key users and their respective responsibilities. QIB encourages its corporate and SME clients who are enrolled in the wage protection system to register in the new 24/7 online WPS system as it eliminates the need for them to visit the service centre.
WPS is an electronic salary transfer system that allows institutions to pay workers’ wages via banks. The system was initiated by Qatar Central Bank and enables the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs to create a database that records wage payments in the private sector to guarantee timely and full payment of contract agreed wages. WPS covers all institutions registered in the ministry irrespective of the sector.
