The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) has created a new form for the employment contract of domestic helpers and those in the same category, a source told local Arabic daily Arrayah.
The new form will enable the employer to fill the necessary information on the contract electronically, and simultaneously send it to the MADLSA Recruitment Department for signature, approval and authentication by the government department concerned without the requirement to make contracts with a labour recruitment office.
The source stressed that the articles of the new contract form are compliant with the stipulations of Law No.14 for 2017 regarding domestic helpers, which was issued to protect the rights both the employers and employees based on a labour contract that specified the designated work and the wages or salaries to be paid by the employer.
The source pointed out the new service aims at easing and expediting such transactions, as the new contract would be officially issued by MADLSA in a very short time, and includes three approved copies in both Arabic and English.
Each party to the contract has the right to keep an original copy while the third will be kept by the department concerned at MADLSA. The source further pointed out that each domestic helper has the right to an employment contract, and can submit any related complaint at the MADLSA based on this contract.
The contract form includes all the key details stressing the rights of both parties and the basic duties and rights of both, in addition to their information and the nature and duration of work, besides the designated salary or wages. The contract is valid after being approved and authenticated by the department concerned at the MADLSA.
