Strong winds are expected in most areas of the country on Friday, the Qatar Met department has said.

The weather report says windy conditions will prevail in offshore areas, too, along with high seas. The detailed forecast says relatively cold daytime conditions are expected along with slight to blowing dust in some places at times as well as clouds. It will also be cold at night.

Offshore areas are also likely to see some clouds on Friday. The wind speed may go up to 34 knots in some inshore areas at times before dropping to 10-20 knots by night. Visibility may drop to 3km or less in some places.

The Met department had recently said a cooler weekend is in store around the country due to the effect of strong northwesterly winds, until Saturday, which will lead to a significant drop in temperature. High waves and dusty conditions have also been forecast during this period.

The maximum temperature saw a sharp drop on Thursday compared to Wednesday. For instance, it decreased from 28C to 22C in Sheehaniya, 28C to 23C in Abu Hamour and 27C to 22C in Karana. In Doha, the drop was from 26C to 24C on Thursday.

On the other hand, the minimum temperature on Thursday was 17C in Abu Samra, Turayna and Batna, while in Doha it was 20C.

Friday, the maximum temperature will be 18C in Ruwais, 19C in Dukhan and Abu Samra, and 23C in Doha, while the minimum will be 16C in Al Khor and 18C in Doha.
