The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will close part of Salwa Road in one direction, for a distance of around 1.6km, at the Rawdat Rashed Interchange.

The lanes leading from Doha to Abu Samra will be closed from January 11 as part of this diversion, Ashghal has said in a statement. The closure has been co-ordinated with the General Directorate of Traffic and will remain in place for six months.

During this period, traffic will be diverted to the opposite side of the road, which will be divided into two lanes in each direction (see map).

The closure aims to enable construction works for a new bridge at the Rawdat Rashed Interchange, as part of the Rawdat Rashed Road Development Project implemented by Ashghal. The project aims to provide a developed and safe road to link Salwa Road with Dukhan Road, and keep traffic movement away from the Rawdat Rashed residential area, the statement explains.

The authority will instal road signs advising motorists of the traffic shift. It has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
